Eco Friendly and sustainable landscape conserves resources, such as energy and water. While being kind to Mother Earth, reducing soil, water, and air pollution. Helping restore our ecosystem and creating an environment where wildlife can thrive.

A sustainable landscape, one without harmful chemical pesticides and synthetic fertilizers, many of which have negative effects not only on the environment, but also on people.

The first step towards an eco-friendly landscape is applying mulch around Florida friendly plants

Conserve Water

Mulch not only conserves water, it insulates and protects the soil from drying out. It also encourages plant growth, while feeding the plants and beneficial soil life, such as, microbes and earthworms. Research shows mulch can actually retain 70% more water than soil that has not been mulched.

Avoid using pesticides and chemicals

In the United States, 75 percent of pesticides are used for home gardening. These caustic chemicals enter our groundwater and end up in our food chain.

A recent article in Good Housekeeping explains. “According to Environment and Human Health, Inc. (EHHI), the Environmental Protection Agency has approved more than 200 different pesticides for lawn care, but these are often mixed together and sold with other toxic chemicals. “Some chemicals commonly used on lawns and gardens have been associated with birth defects, mutations, adverse reproductive effects, and cancer in laboratory animals,” the EHHI reports. These harmful combos can also have a negative ecological effect, including contaminating area water sources. If you aren’t sure what to buy, stick with organic mulches or speak with an expert at your local gardening center.”

Organic mulch reduces weeds and slowly releases valuable nutrients, creating healthier soil, which in turn grows healthier plants, less likely to succumb to disease or pests. Mulch also prevents these nutrients from leaching out of the soil
