We are experiencing stressful and challenging times. Working out in the yard or garden is a great way to relax and enjoy life. Getting outside, breathing fresh air, getting your hands dirty, and even get some exercise. Then, enjoy the fruits of your labor.

Your landscape can be frustrating on occasion. Your plants have seen better days, weeds are creeping in, the soil is dried out, the list can go on and on.

It’s time to fight back…mulch is the best defense when it comes to a beautiful landscape and flowers!

When it comes to keeping your landscape and garden in shape, mulch goes a surprisingly long way in keeping your yard in tip top shape.

Mulch improves the overall quality of the soil by releasing vital nutrients for your plants use. Mulch also keeps moisture in the soil by reducing evaporation, and makes your landscape look amazing!

We all love that yard with a clean and tidy appearance, but not sure where to start. Don’t worry, even in the challenging times Reliable Peat can help. Just give us call and we can deliver mulch in bulk to your home.

Mulching your landscape is also a great project to work on when you have some free time at home.

A few simple rules to keep in mind when it comes to mulching

When applying mulch ensure it is in an even layer and lying flat, avoid any mounds.

Make sure the mulch extends past the outermost edge of the leaves or the drip line of the plant.

The layer of mulch should be about 2 to 4 inches thick. Anything over this may trap excessive moisture which can lead to disease or rot.

After applying mulch it is important to water the mulch. Dry mulch can take moisture from the soil

Avoid volcano mulching, this is when mulch is piled high against the trunk of the tree, resembling a volcano.
