Landscape is an important aspect of your home, but a good portion of it goes ignored. The fact is, when you include mulch in the landscape, it has a big return on investment.

When it comes to mulch, you have several choices. For example, there is the natural look of bark mulch, chocolate, or to really stand out, red mulch. Then there is white river rock for a modern feel,

According to Top Landscapers in Central Florida, Keep These Few Things In Mind When Using Bark or Stone Mulch

Keep Your Whole Landscape In Mind

It is important to have a cohesive design, one that is attractive from all angels. Take into consideration your landscape as a whole when deciding which mulch to choose and where it should be placed.

Mulch Is Good For More Than Just Practical Reasons

While mulch has many practical uses, it adds significant aesthetic value. Adding a decorative touch to complement your home. An accent color that contrast with your flowers, plants, and green shrubs, to make them really stand out.

Environmental Benefits Of Mulch

Erosion and sediment runoff are both big issues in Central Florida. Just an application of mulch can reduce sediment loss by 5 times, when compared to bare soil. Purchasing mulch in bulk is also better for the environment. It would take 140 bags just to cover 10 yards of mulch. That’s 140 bags you have to carry, heavy plastic to cut open, empty, and then having to dispose of all those bags.

How Much Mulch You Apply Is Important

It is a balancing act, too little and the mulch is not effective and too much and it could cause damage to your plants. It is recommended to apply about three inches of mulch around flower beds, shrubs, and trees. If you are using organic bark mulch it should be applied about once a year.

A good rule of thumb, the smaller, more compact the mulch, such as fine and mini pine bark mulch, needs less of an application because it restricts oxygen to the roots.  The larger the mulch, such as large pine mulch, can be applied more liberally.
